THE TEACHING OF THE PICKED FLOWER

When Sidhartha the Buddha was giving a Teaching, a student asked "what is it like then O Awakened One, Please Teach Me", and the Buddha responded by picking a flower which he gave to the student saying "For the Dear One who wants to know, it is like this."

There is so much meaning and Insight in this Symbolic Teaching.

The Buddha new that ALL things/beings were connected, and from this came Life/energy/sustenance, but because we do not believe and see this - we feel unconnected - which means we don't receive any sustenance from the Universe.

Hence by picking the flower from the earth - the moment it was picked, it started to die - this is because it was separated from what it was part of, and could no longer receiving sustenance from the Earth.

Hence this is the state we are in - we are as the picked flower - unless we find our connection back to the Whole.
